San Francisco provides an ideal site for professional conferences. San Francisco provides a wealth of attractions including world-class restaurants, theaters, museums, nightclubs, shopping, and sights. A cable car line runs past Union Square directly to Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, and Pier 39 where ferries to Alcatraz Island depart. San Francisco in summer boasts a very comfortable climate. The average high temperature is 66° F (18° C) and the average low is 55° F (12° C) with no noticeable humidity and practically no chance of rain. The summer fog rolling in through the Golden Gate provides pleasant evening cooling along with a beautiful sight. The temperate climate and long August days make walking and other outdoor activities in San Francisco a true pleasure.
San Francisco is easily accessible from any part of the world. All major airlines including international carriers serve San Francisco International Airport, just 17 miles away. Oakland International Airport (18 miles) and San Jose International Airport (50 miles) provide alternative gateways. The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system serves the San Francisco and Oakland airports, and train service is available from San Jose. Within San Francisco, the public streetcar and bus system along with the famous cable cars provide access to all sights and districts.
SFSU campus is conveniently located in the southwest corner of San Francisco, just minutes away from downtown and the Pacific Ocean. The address of the main campus is 1600 Holloway Avenue, at 19th Avenue,
which runs past Golden
Gate Park directly to the Golden Gate
Bridge. The BART station is right
across street. The Stonestown
Galleria Shopping Mall and Lake Merced are just
around the corner. SFSU is easily accessible by public transportation
from international airports and other SF bay areas.
